About Cheltenham Singers
Cheltenham Singers is a new community choir in Cheltenham, launched in September 2022, which runs every Wednesday evening In Christ Church's Harwood Hall.
Directed by Jennifer Legg and accompanied by Sheila Henderson, this pairing have loved making music together since 2012, leading Oxford City Singers towards being one of the largest choirs in Oxford.
Whether you've sung before or are a complete beginner, this could be a choir for you. We have lots of fun and make great music too. Take a look at some examples of the repertoire we might perform here.

Rehearsals cost £5 to attend, payable at the beginning of the rehearsal. No joining fee, no hidden costs, no pressure.
Jennifer Legg
Founder and Musical Director
Jennifer Legg studied Music at the University of Birmingham before completing a Masters in Music at The University of Manchester. After a spell as a peripatetic woodwind and piano teacher, she trained to be a Music Librarian, and held the post of Deputy Music Librarian at the University of Oxford's Bodleian Libraries group for almost 10 years. In 2013 she took over the directorship of Oxford City Singers, and has never looked back. After poaching her now husband from the Tenor section and having her first baby, she moved to Cheltenham in 2017 but has continued to travel back to Oxford each Thursday evening ever since. Now her youngest child is 4 years old she is intent on realising her long-held ambition to bring her unique brand of fun choral singing to this new Cheltenham choir.
Sheila Henderson
Repetiteur and Co-Founder
Sheila Henderson graduated in Music in Glasgow. She subsequently taught music in schools in Glasgow, York and Oxfordshire. She was MD for a musical theatre company in Glasgow and conducted in the Kings Theatre.
Since she moved to the Cotswolds she has built up a successful career in piano tuition, entering hundreds of students for ABRSM piano exams.
Sheila is also experienced as an accompanist and has played for musical theatre companies, soloists and choirs. She is proud to play for Oxford City Singers and has been with the choir since it began over 10 years ago.
She is looking forward to playing for Cheltenham Singers and sharing the joy of music.
